The Scientist: an Indy success story
This is a tale about a success story, a mutual success story, which is the best kind.
Back when First Time Online was a fledgling company with a relatively limited portfolio, we were approached with a unique opportunity. An Indy film production team was looking for the web team that could bring their online vision to fruition. We needed to make them believe in our ability to understand people and their visions. One phone conference later, they were on board.
Client Request: The Scientist team had a completed movie and little else. We were asked to create an identity for this film: an original movie poster and matching web presence. This was a new type of project for us, so we kept actively in touch with the production team to make sure we were heading in the right direction.
FTO Solution: From the outset The Scientist team was impressed by our enthusiasm and confidence in our ability. Our ongoing relationship with them during the development process allowed them to get involved and feel like a part of the process. Our very first draft of the poster design took them by storm. They loved it and felt their vision of the movie had manifested itself in poster form. The web presence followed suit. We built the site as if it were a major box-office hit, taking queues from other Indy success stories like Primer. It had the original aesthetics of a professionally branded movie and the functionality of a blog set up so fans could discuss the movies philosophical overtones.
